Fabulous chefs join bipartisan bash to honor Joyce and John Flynn

Washington, D.C. – On April 13th, some of Washington D.C.’s finest chefs will showcase their creativity as they join stars of Washington’s political and media firmament in a bipartisan bash to honor Joyce and John Flynn.

The annual celebration of Irish cuisine, culture and politics – An Evening with Celtic Chefs – will be held at the St. Regis Hotel to support the work of the Washington Ireland Program(WIP).

“I am always amazed at how political Washington sets aside its differences when it comes to helping Ireland and the Washington Ireland Program” said Irish Ambassador Anne Anderson, “It is a truly celebratory night with great food, and the wit is just crackling.”

Joining the celebrity chefs from The Irish Inn at Glen Echo, Chao Ku and Decanter at St. Regis, Liberty Tavern and Campono, are over 30 celebrity Sous Chefs including Reps Richie Neal and Mike Fitzpatrick. They will be joined by local and national media personalities Mark Shields, Judy Woodruff, and Gordon Peterson, along with political heavyweights Stephanie Cutter, and Mike McCurry.

This year’s event will honor Joyce and John Flynn. Connie Lambert, Education and Communications Director for the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers remarked, “Few if any individuals have done more to advance the goals of the Washington Ireland Program (WIP) than my dear friends John and Joyce Flynn. Together – John, as President, now retired, of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers, and Joyce, as a lifelong civic activities and cultural ambassador for the labor movement – they have made the WIP mission their shared mission. I am delighted to join the ever-growing network of WIP supporters in congratulating Joyce and John as the 2016 honorees of “An Evening with the Celtic Chefs” and in expressing our gratitude for their service over the years. Any night with the Flynns is one to savor – but this one will be especially so. John and Joyce – we salute you!”
