Pressing Strings is a soul stirring trio based out of the musically fertile scene of Annapolis, Maryland. Their sound is versatile and stems from lead singer Jordan Sokel’s soulful, bluesy songwriting combined with a solid and dynamic rhythm section. Anchored by drummer Brandon Bartlett and bassist Nick Welker, their musical influences span genres and generations. As a result their fan base does the same.
All three members grew up basically on the Mason-Dixon line, in the shadow of Appalachia and sewn into the seems of the Chesapeake. That brackish water seems likely and fitting to represent their style of music. Rootsy and organic, funky and melodic. The next year will bring several new releases from the band including a new album titled “Life of a Tree” set to be released late November 2014 shortly followed by and EP titled “Owe The Source” in the beginning of 2015.
Honest and simply done, One of Those Girls is a piano-driven collection that feels cozy like a cup of tea shared with your best friend. Produced by former My Favorite Highway lead singer Dave Cook, the debut solo album of Virginia singer-songwriter Eileen Graham is colored by delightful hooks and a wash of uncertainty, leaving listeners transfixed by Graham’s unforgettable blanket of a voice.
The 26-year-old songstress grew up singing in school choir and playing in local coffee bars, picking up piano through a year of music classes in college. As the former lead singer of the band Noble Air, Graham was featured on the premiere webisode of Aux Send, which landed in the Top 10 of New & Noteworthy Artists on iTunes in 2011.
Known mostly as a singer songwriter, Dan Wolff is also the frontman and founding member of The Muddy Crows, a DC based Americana/Rock band.
