Join Italians in DC for the opening reception in honor of Italian TV personality and writer Serena Dandini and the U.S. debut of “Wounded to Death”: a theatrical piece against femiced that will be performed on November 19 at the Organization of American States.
1. Opening Reception with Serena Dandini
This is a members-only event with 20 spots on a first come, first served basis, and priority access for exceptional members. The dinner with Italian food and wine will take place on Monday, November 18 at 7:00 PM. The cost is $30. Place and link to register will be sent to Italians in DC members via e-mail.
2. U.S. Premier of “Wounded to Death”
In the framework of the Fifth Conference of States Party to the Belém do Pará Convention, on Tuesday, November 19 the Inter-American Commission of Women will present the theatrical play “Wounded to Death.”
Sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Department for Equal Opportunities of Italy, in collaboration with Mismaonda and other partners, the play seeks to give voice to women victims of femicide – the killing of women for gender-based reasons – and raise public awareness of this invisible but prevalent human rights violation. Serena Dandini, an Italian actress, writer and television host, will present the stories, accompanied by other outstanding women, including government ministers, parliamentarians, academics and activists.
